Zapier: starting to use Zapier with Light Blue

Zapier connects apps like Light Blue to any of the other apps and services that it supports. If you’ve read our introduction to using Zapier to connect Light Blue to thousands of apps, you’re going to be keen to start building Zaps that help Light Blue to work with the best tools for any task you can think of.

Requirements

As well as a Light Blue subscription (or trial account), you need a Zapier account. Zapier offers a variety of subscriptions (including a free one) but please be aware that each subscription level will only handle a certain number of tasks per month.

Light Blue API key

You need to create a Light Blue API key to be able to use our Zapier integration. You can do this in the “Integrations” section of the Preferences window in the Light Blue desktop app, or in the “API & Integrations” section of your account on our website.

Setup

The Light Blue integration for Zapier is currently a “private” action, so you need to click the following link to add it to your Zapier account (instead of searching for Light Blue in Zapier):

Light Blue on Zapier

(we launched a new Zapier integration with lots of new features in the summer of 2022, so if you’re already using our old Zapier integration you’ll need to click this link to gain access to the new features)

Creating & using Zaps

You create Zaps in your Zapier account to automate tasks. Each Zap has a trigger (e.g. “a new payment was created in Light Blue”) and an action (e.g. “create a new transaction in my online accounting system”). Once you’ve created a Zap, Zapier will automatically run it whenever the trigger event occurs.

Light Blue has a comprehensive set of Zapier triggers that allow you to use it for all of your day-to-day work while taking advantage of industry-leading apps and services in a totally automated fashion. You can also use Light Blue’s Zapier integration to send information to Light Blue’s Inbox.

Once you’ve used our link to add Light Blue to your Zapier account, you can use Light Blue for either the trigger or action part of your Zaps.

To find out more about what’s possible with Light Blue and Zapier, take a look at our list of ideas, or read about the Light Blue triggers and actions that are included in our Zapier integration.

Stopping a Zap

If you want to stop a Zap from running, you should deactivate or delete it from your Zapier account.

You can also review your Light Blue Zapier triggers from the “API & Zapier” tab of the “Integrations” section of the Preferences window in Light Blue. There’s an option to delete triggers in there, but this only deletes the Light Blue end of the trigger: ideally, you should deactivate or delete Zaps from your Zapier account.
