Light Blue user case study - Gioia Photography

What were you using before you found Light Blue?

We were barely getting by using Microsoft Calendar and little pieces of paper! Our brains and lives were overflowing.

Why did you choose Light Blue to run your business?

We researched all the data managment software available to our industry and outside our industry for over a year. We chose Light Blue because it was considerably easier to understand. In our business we have to stay up to date with so many bits of software... we really did not want to have to invest a year of training just to get our business organized, as some of the other softwares required. Light Blue was very intuitive to begin with and the tutorials were a great help for the few areas we needed assistance with. Additionally, we chose Light Blue because it did everything we needed - and the price was reasonable. Lastly - which should actually be first - we chose Light Blue for the customer service. We sent in an email inquiry for help and, even though the Light Blue guys were in Europe and we were in the USA, they responded within an hour! And continued to respond quickly, even after we had been long-time clients.

The only negative point we found was that the shoot times were listed in military time. We asked the guys at Light Blue Software, and they fixed that in the next release! So, no negatives, all positives - that is why we chose Light Blue Software.

How has Light Blue helped you?

It's freed our desks of the endless piles of little pieces of paper, freed our brains of all the rest of the information, and freed our time up. It all means we can spend more time marketing and photographing.

Gioia PhotographyWhat's your favorite feature in Light Blue?

Our favorite feature in Light Blue is the To-Do list that pulls all the tasks onto the Summary screen. We love the workflows, too - we no longer have to manually add each of the tasks associated with the session. This allows us to not overbook the photographer - ie me!

Gioia PhotographyWhat do you like about version 3 compared to version 2?

We were so pleased to see the new feature in Localisation to change the hours to Standard time. We also love the simplification of the interface. Originally there were multiple windows; now there is just one window with tabs along the top.

Do you have any other comments?

After a year of searching, we were resigned to the idea that we were not going to find something perfect, and that we would have to choose the lesser of the evils. Then we found Light Blue; we couldn't be happier. We will continue to upgrade our software with Light Blue as long as we are in business - which, thankfully, right now looks like it will be for a long time!
